What is nowadays known as the Haarlemmermeerpolder [Polder of Haarlemmermeer], was a large lake between Leiden, Haarlem and Amsterdam. This lake was drained in the 19th century with the help of three pumping stations that were powered by steam engines. What emerged was a beautiful piece of fertile soil. This day trip shows you this wonderful landscape of the Haarlemmermeerpolder [Polder of Haarlemmermeer]. We sail, among others, past Lisse, Hillegom, Haarlem, Lijnden, Schiphol Airport, Aalsmeer, Leimuiden and Kaag. You enjoy a strongly changing and typically Dutch landscape with windmills, dikes, polders, Schiphol Airport, lakes and various characteristic towns.
During the outward journey we serve coffee with apple pie. In the afternoon you can enjoy a snack and a delicious brunch buffet.
During the voyage a limited range of drinks and food is available.
